Open Obedience Practice Guidelines

  • All dogs need to be crated or on a leash when not being worked.
  • Please be courteous of others, and do not let your dog approach another dog unless you have ok’d it with their handler.
  • Please pick up after your dog and dispose of poop in the dumpster outside.
  • If your dog has an accident indoors, please clean with the spray located on the windowsill between the main room and the kitchen.
  • If you need help or training advice, please ask! Most are willing to help!
  • The “Member in Charge” will organize the Sit and Down exercises.
  • Pop/water is available in the refrigerator in the kitchen for $ .50.
  • A First Aid Kit is available in the kitchen in the cabinet above the sink to the left.
  • If you are one of the last to leave, please help return equipment to its proper location.

Utility Ring

Unless there are no Utility dogs present, the following guidelines will be observed:

  • One dog/handler team in the ring at a time. This is due to the fact that dogs are frequently working away from their handler, and more space is needed.
  • Place your article bag on the grooming table next to the ring. This will designate the order of dogs being run in this ring.
  • Please limit your time in the ring to no longer than 10-15 minutes if others are waiting.

Novice/Open Ring

  • Two to four dogs may be worked simultaneously.
  • There is no “set order” for going in. You may enter when you see an appropriate work space.
  • If you have a Novice dog and are concerned about him/her being off leash, please let the other handlers know.
  • Please be cognizant of where and what other handlers are doing with their dogs.
